Crisp cool air and towering peaks dipped in white greet the eye as eager travellers make their way to Seoraksan National Park. Taking its name from the Korean word ‘Seol’ which means white, and ‘Ak’ meaning big mountain, the park spans across four cities and counties, and has been accredited as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Travel past the perpetually white mountain tops of Mount Seorak and pay homage at the ancient Sinheungsa Temple. Walk beneath the shadow of the Bronze Jwabul Statue - a 10m-high seated Buddha statue, and continue through verdant surroundings imbued with tranquillity, past a granite terrace, over a bridge across a ravine, into the sacred walls of the temple. Marvel at sculpted deities that have graced the temple floors since its founding in the 6th Century, as the perfumed scents of incense sticks tickle the senses. Doff aged interiors for modern ones and head towards the Yeoju Premium Outlets for an afternoon bout of shopping. Step into over 140 luxury fashion brand stores showcasing the likes of Burberry, Fendi, Dolce & Gabba, and Salvatore Ferragamo, as well beauty and home stores including Mac, Estee Lauder, Royal Copenhagen, and more. As wallets lighten with carefully deliberated retail escapades, take breaks in between bargain hunts and feast on personal favourites at the 500-seater food court. Return back to Seoul in the evening, with arms laden with shopping bags and delightful memories.
